My name is Erik, I am a 39-year-old Norwegian, living just outside of Oslo, Norway. I am the main force behind this website. I want to try to explain my purpose and why I’m here... I will try to make it as short as possible, but first I want to give you some facts: The reason I did this site, on my very limited spare-time, is because I have found something that’s giving me a lot of energy, something I want to share with you. I did the photos of the asanas, the cards, the posters and I designed the actual website with the help of this new energy, and a couple of good friends.

I have a limited budget and a lot of guts. It’s not much of a shop yet, I must admit, but it is a start. I made these cards and posters, and will expand with more products over time. I would love to provide anyone who would like to do Ashtanga Yoga with some tools to help them along in their practice. These practice cards are made for those of you who are at least familiar with Ashtanga Yoga and the Primary Series. If you, on the other hand, are curious about Ashtanga and want to learn about what it is and what it can do for you I would recommend to get a good quality intro-DVD, a book like John Scotts "Ashtanga Yoga", or a combination of both. Try ashtanga.com where you find a lot of good products.

h3. What’s the story?

I promised to make it short, here it goes: Once upon a time, about 25 years ago, there was a small group of break-dancer in a suburb outside of Oslo who called themselves "Kolbotn Heart Breakers". It was in the early 80s, and break-dance was new on the scene here in Norway. "Kolbotn Heart Breakers" won some competitions and had a nice time doing what they loved. Time passed, they all went to different schools, a couple of them moved, and they met occasionally over the years. Suddenly 10 years had passed, and I wanted to have a little reunion of the crew. Easier said than done. I found one, the other two where gone. I didnt know where to look. I tried everything I could with no luck, they where gone. Another 10 years passed. I thought about these guys a lot, but that didn’t help much.

h3. Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga

Last Christmas I went to Mexico with my family. We where to stay at a nice, small Eco-resort down in Tulum, on the beach. We came there and it was an absolute dream. Friendly people and amazing surroundings. The first morning, at 6:30, we watched a couple doing some sort of salutation on a terrace, in the sunrise. It looked fantastic. At breakfast we got introduced to the couple, Juan Carlos, film-director from Mexico City and his wife Luisa. We immediately felt good in their company. Later on that week they asked us if we wanted to try Ashtanga Yoga with them the next morning, of course we said yes. What a refreshment! I felt so light and nice after my first try, it was a strong experience. I felt full of energy, but ooh my body was hurting, the day after I could hardly walk.

Like all holidays, this one also ended. We went back to Norway knowing we wanted to find a Yoga teacher in Oslo. We didn’t know much about it, and what the situation in Oslo would be like. We had a try-out in a class doing a different kind of yoga, it was nice but didn’t give the energy boost we felt in Mexico. But the nice teacher had knowledge of a new place just opening in Oslo. So we called Puro Yoga. We got the last two places on the starter course.

h3. Reunion

There was this well known Yoga teacher, originally from Norway, coming from Hong Kong to do an opening show at Puro Yoga. Sitting there watching this man doing the most extreme things with a graceful look on his face I asked my wife, "doesn’t he some how remind you a bit of our old childhood friend?" Maybe a tiny bit, she answered.

It was a very strong moment of reunion when I later went up to him and said "hi man, its been a while since we did the electric boogaloo together".

Some months later I went to visit him in Hong Kong. I brought my camera resulting in practice-cards, the posters and this website, - so far.

h3. Life´s a mystery

Life is a mystery, and full of surprises, the rest is up to you.
